I’m kinda a Star Wars nerd…

I have a lightsaber.  I own collectibles and toys.  I have made multiple Star Wars themed pieces on my laser cutter as well as my 3D Printer.  After seeing Norm Chan’s Death Star Diorama on YouTube, I knew I had to make one.  Norm was nice enough to post his design files to Thingiverse, and I used that as a template.  I only made small tweaks to the back wall, and added a door panel control box.  I loved that he designed this to fit into Ikea furniture, as I display a lot of my work in a Kalax.

This is my first diorama made on the Glowforge, and maybe since like grade school.  But all things Star Wars makes me happy, and loved the way that this turned out!

Being a Star Wars nerd meant that I already had a few 6″ action figures from the Hasbro Black Series that would work perfectly in this diorama.   I ordered some 1/8″ matte and glossy black, as well as frosted acrylic from Glowforge, and some matte black from Inventables.  The other colors I had in stock or scraps.  I used the same LED lighting strip as referenced in the original video.

Additional Star Wars Glowforge Projects

Here are a few other Star Wars themed pieces that were cut on the Glowforge.  It’s hard to pick a favorite, but Star Wars Monopoly is probably on the top of my list!
